I worked in mining in Wright, WY (Gillette is close by, only town with ANYTHING around) and saw this before. Always thought it was an awesome custom didn't realize its factory!

I think the "Texas tradition" tag line is more about the dealer, Bill McDavid, than the tricked-out truck. But man, CB radios! Wood panel interiors! That takes me back to the road trip days of my childhood, crisscrossing the Lone Star State in various Chevy conversion vans.
Anyway, looks like good ol' Bill rode off to the great dealership in the sky a few years ago. Here's his obit: http://m.legacy.com/obituaries/dfw…

That is an awesome truck but... a 350?! That is a hell of a lot of machine to be motivated by nothing but a weazy ol' 80's small block.

For another hundred you could find a V50 T5 M66 Haldex car like mine. CP. This thing might amuse me if not for the steering wheel downgrade however.

Well now that all depends on how it's put together. I think we can all agree a chevy 350 in the right built is more than enough to move that bad boy.. But I agree, it should have a big 'ol 454 or something.

Even with some internal work that small block isn't gonna make the kind of torque you'd want for hauling. But since the stock air cleaner assembly and exhaust manifolds are in place and it appears to have iron heads (they look like thy're painted black) I assume that 350 is as stock as the day it rolled off the line, which would mean 180-200 hp. I'm surprised that thing can get out of it's own way. With a trailer it'd be a rolling chicane.
Still, it's a very cool truck.
Edit: Just looked up numbers; 210 hp-300 lbs/tq. Sheez.
